First Kiva Loan

Leave A Trace has officially supported our first Kiva loan. You can check out our donor profile here.

We chose to support Alexander, in Costa Rica, with a loan to buy coffee seedlings. Costa Rica is a place near and dear to my heart, and it’s the place where Leave A Trace and its mission were first conceived. Every morning there started with a cup of Costa Rican coffee, so this seemed like a great loan to support, embodying our vision of how Leave A Trace can support communities around the globe.

About Alexander

Alexander is 43 years old who is married and lives with his wife and three children.

He plans to use this load to buy coffee seedlings to replant when the rainy season resumes. This will allow him to increase the density of his plants by area.

He had no prior loan history with state banks, but Fudecosur (Kiva’s field partner) has offered him a loan with better terms and a much lower interest rate than state banks.

We wish him the best of luck!
